OUR STORY

Vision

Self-Sufficiency For All

Our mission is to inspire and empower backcountry women to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and unlock their full potential. We achieve this by handcrafting innovative products through creative upcycling, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability. Our ultimate goal is to help them envision a future of limitless possibilities.

DESIRE TO START
PROJECT 1000

The treasures that have filled my life with the greatest joy are those that have been lovingly crafted by hand. It all began with the heavenly aromas of my mother’s cooking and the cosy warmth of my grandmother’s crocheted sweaters, leading me to discover life’s sublime pleasures.

This ignited a fiery passion for art, with the Renaissance and Impressionist movements inspiring me to delve deeper into the world of handmade wonders.

As I explored the traditional techniques of shaping and crafting, my heart leapt with excitement at the rich textures and intricate forms that unfolded before me. These moments have now become the most treasured memories of my life. Every moment spent in the pursuit of artistic excellence brings me boundless joy, and I yearn to share this wondrous experience with all those around me.

RECOGNISING RURAL TALENT

I endeavoured to establish meaningful relationships,
connecting skilled rural women with their rich heritage of
traditional crafts, to create something truly special. A
perfect union between raw materials and impeccable
craftsmanship resulted in stunningly beautiful articles.
The dialogue between visionary makers and appreciative
buyers spawned a unique language of its own. As trust
grew, buyers returned again and again, forging a sacred
relationship with the crafts and the makers.

BEAUTY AT OUR FINGERTIPS

Weaving on handmade wooden looms, crochet, and macramé are skills that have been passed down from generation to generation. These traditional arts embody the essence of nostalgia and the warmth of our grannies and the past.

At Project 1000, we strive to revive these beautiful techniques and present them to the world in a range of charming and luxurious handmade products.

Our mission is to bring back the magic of handmade craftsmanship in a world that is often dominated by over-mechanized products. With each piece we create, we hope to honour the legacy of our ancestors and inspire a new appreciation for the artistry of the past.

REINVENTING THE
COMMUNITY PROJECT

In our workshop, the dream of a vibrant, creative community has cometo life as rural women from all corners of the country gather to express themselves through the art of weaving. Every day, our weavers fearlessly and confidently breathe life into their art, weaving vibrant colors and patterns that tell stories of tradition and creativity. Their playful spirit infuses every thread, creating unique and captivating works of beauty on their looms.

The PROJECT 1000 community is a tapestry of a thousand aspirations, where friendly banter and the laughter of children fill the air. Our artisans carry a deep sense of responsibility in their hearts, pledging to protect the environment and leave a greener planet for future generations. Guided by the core principles of mindful resource utilization and upcycling of textile salvages, we take pride in every decision we make.

WE VALUE OUR PRINCIPALS
AND CREATE A CIRCULAR ECONOMY

PROJECT 1000 takes its responsibility seriously, with a focus on environmental conservation, sustainable materials, and functional products that discourage fast fashion and limit textile waste. Our values include providing equal opportunities for rural women, including access to training and entrepreneurship, soft skills, and confidence-building. We also work to create economic opportunities through online and offline sales, fairs, and collaborations with industry leaders. Our end goal is to create a sustainable circular economy, where everyone benefits from beautiful, high-quality handmade products that contribute to a greener planet and a more equitable society.

At PROJECT 1000, we take our responsibility towards our planet seriously. We understand the impact of over mechanized products on the environment and are committed to playing our part in conservation efforts. Every aspect of our production process is carefully monitored, from our sustainable and eco-friendly packaging to the raw materials used. We strive to develop unique and functional products that discourage fast fashion and limit textile wastage. By creating value for our customers through multi-purpose products, we aim to help them stretch their pennies while making a positive impact on the environment.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to the social front as well. We advocate for equal opportunities for rural women, allowing them to express themselves and access fair pricing for their work. Skill development and gainful employment are the core values of PROJECT 1000, and we are proud to offer soft skill training to help build confidence in our artisans’ communication with city folks. We believe that through their independent handcrafting and entrepreneurial journey, these rural women can achieve financial autonomy and take their rightful and respectable place in society.

On the economic front, we do our best to help our artisans sell their handmade products online and offline. We understand that poverty alleviation is a first step towards economic stability and work tirelessly to provide our weavers with opportunities to showcase their talent and gain visibility. Our administrative staff actively participates in domestic and international fairs, promoting our small local business and seeking collaborations with designers, interior decorators, and other industry leaders to generate sales for our weavers. Our goal is to create a sustainable circular economy that benefits all involved, from our weavers to our customers to the planet we call home.
